The Jacksonville Jaguars ruled out running back Chris Ivory and cornerback Prince Amukamara for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers. He was released from the hospital on Tuesday and he released a statement about the incident for the first time on Thursday.
There is no timetable for Ivory's return to the field and his status for Sunday's game at San Diego has yet to be determined.
Ivory also said in the announcement he appreciated "everyone's sensitivity in this personal matter", and didn't discuss details when speaking with the media Thursday afternoon. Thank you for all for your support. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport previously reported the issue was unrelated to the calf trouble that landed Ivory in the questionable section of the team's injury report. The running back did not mention the exact reason he was in the hospital, though, other than it was a "general medical condition".
He declined to reveal specifics about the issue, saying: "it was something that needed attention and I went in in pain and I got the problem fixed". "I'm just ready to get back going".
Without Ivory in the lineup, the Jaguars run game struggled against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Ivory recorded career-highs in yards (1,070) and touchdowns (7) last season, but will have to wait until Week 3 to make his regular season debut as a Jacksonville Jaguar.
