Ariana Grande announces Manchester benefit concert

The suicide blast killed 22 people at a packed Ariana Grande gig at Manchester arena on Monday night.

"I want to reassure people that the arrests that we have made are significant, and initial searches of premises have revealed items that we believe are very important to the investigation", Mr Hopkins said.

Libyan authorities have arrested Abedi's younger brother, Hashim, and father, Ramadan, in Tripoli.

The New York Times has defended the publication of leaked photographs appearing to show the bomb used in the Manchester terror attack and said the decision was "responsible".

Ariana Grande says she'll return to Manchester for a benefit concert to raise money for the victims of Monday's bombing and their families.

This follows the initial information leak, which happened just after the attack itself, with the identity of the 22-year-old British-born bomber Salman Abedi revealed by CBS, NBC, and then Reuters, citing USA officials, the Guardian reported.

Contacted by AFP, Greater Manchester Police declined to comment on the BBC report. British media have reported that one of them is Abedi's brother but police have not confirmed that.

"There is nothing I or anyone can do to take away the pain you are feeling or to make this better".

The pictures published by the New York Times included remains of the bomb and of the rucksack carried by the suicide bomber, and showed blood stains amid the wreckage.

On Thursday multiple media outlets reported that the Greater Manchester Police had made a decision to stop sharing information about the investigation with USA intelligence experts.

British Prime Minister Theresa May chaired a meeting Wednesday of her emergency security Cabinet group to talk about intelligence reports on Abedi and concerns that he might have had outside support. This afternoon, eight-year-old Saffie Roussos and 26-year-old John Atkinson have also been named as fatalities.

Britain and the United States, along with Canada, Australia and New Zealand, are members of an intelligence sharing organization called the Five Eyes. Our "intelligence cooperation with the United States is unprecedented", he added.
