Chris Cornell's family slams claims he 'intentionally' killed himself

The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that his death was "determined as suicide by hanging", but the full autopsy report has not yet been completed.

Cornell's wife of 13 years, Vicky Karayiannis, said in the statement that her husband was slurring his words when she spoke to him after his performance with Soundgarden at Fox Theatre in the Motor City, and told her "he may have took an extra Ativan or two".

He closed the show with Soundgarden's song Slaves And Bulldozers but, according to footage posted by fans, inserted lyrics from Led Zeppelin's In My Time Of Dying.

"It's really sad that he could never find peace in his life", said Chad White, who came to the art display with his young son Ignatius to honor Cornell.

Recall that the famous American musician Chris Cornell died in Detroit at age 52.

With his flowing curly hair and often bare chest, Mr Cornell performed Soundgarden hits such as Black Hole Sun, set to dissonant minor chord progressions on guitar.

Of course it's a story about death and Seattle music.

"Shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Chris Cornell".

Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page tweeted: "RIP Chris Cornell".

Soundgarden had one of the heaviest sounds in grunge with trappings of heavy metal, even though Cornell cited The Beatles, to whom he listened constantly as a child, as his biggest influence. "The family believes that if Chris took his life, he did not know what he was doing, and that drugs or other substances may have affected his actions", an attorney for the family, Kirk Pasich, said in a statement. "There was about two years where I was more or less agoraphobic and didn't deal with anybody, didn't talk to anybody, didn't have any friends at all".

He found his outlet in music, first as a drummer and then a singer and guitarist as he joined guitarist Kim Thayil and bassist Hiro Yamamoto to form Soundgarden.

"It was a pretty dark album lyrically and pretty depressing, and I was going through a really hard time in my life - my band wasn't together anymore, my marriage was falling apart and I was dealing with it by drinking way too much, and that has its own problems, particularly with depression", he told Rolling Stone in 2015. He also found success outside the band with his solo music and the band Temple of the Dog.

With Audioslave, Chris Cornell took a leftist political slant and the band in 2005 became the first U.S. rockers to play a major concert in Cuba.

SO SO stunned to hear about Chris Cornell!

Audioslave disbanded in 2007, but Cornell and Soundgarden reunited in 2010 and released the band's sixth studio album, "King Animal" in 2012.

Cornell has battled addiction problems in the past.
