Dashcam captures moment of Manchester blast

Monday's Ariana Grande concert at the 21,000 capacity Manchester Arena, in the heart of the lively downtown area, was close to both the city's 13th century cathedral and the popular Printworks entertainment hub, which would likely have been packed with young people and college students.

Greater Manchester Police have raised the death toll in a blast at an Ariana Grande concert to 22.

She said: "I've called the hospitals, I've called all the hotels where people say that children have been taken and I've called the police".

"We have been treating this as a terrorist incident", said Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins at a televised press conference.

Officials say children are among the victims.

The Department of Homeland Security says there is no evidence of credible threats against music venues in the US, as England reels from an explosion at an Ariana Grande concert late Monday.

"Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased, our prayers with those injured for a speedy and full recovery and our solidarity with the British people and government".

Ellie Ward, 17, made his way out of the arena after the blast, and found her 64-year-old grandfather, who had been waiting for him when the explosion happened.

And lots of more Manchester residents also offered their spare rooms and sofas to sleep on.

23 year-old Ariana was born in Boca Raton, Florida on June 26, 1993.

"This has been the most horrific incident that we have ever faced in Great Manchester", the chief said, adding that more than 400 officers have been deployed in the "fast-moving" investigation.

An explosion ripped through a foyer linking Manchester Arena with Victoria station, sparking mass panic it echoed through the venue and fans rushed to escape.

British Prime Minister Theresa May is due to chair a meeting of the government's COBRA emergency committee later Tuesday.

Her current "The Dangerous Woman Tour" is in support of her third studio album, "Dangerous Woman" which released previous year on May 20.

Police said the suspicious item at the centre of the controlled explosion was just abandoned clothing.

Varun wrote, "Strength and prayer to all the families affected #Manchester #prayersforManchester Just woke up to news about the #Manchester attack".

There were few immediate details and trains into the area were suspended.

The concert was attended by thousands of young music fans in northern England.
