Donald Trump 'belongs in an institution — Federal Bureau of Investigation director's father

The official claims that Trump simply used the topic to segue into creating a sense of obligation with Russian officials and to coax concessions out of Lavrov regarding Syria, Ukraine and other issues by bringing up the fact that Russia interfering in the U.S. election caused him great political strife.

Comey was leading the probe into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 USA election and possible ties to Trump's campaign.

It came two days after Mr Rosenstein named Mr Mueller as a special counsel to investigate possible co-ordination between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign to influence the 2016 presidential election.

Two more major and potentially damaging reports about President Donald Trump's dealings with Russian Federation were published Friday, shortly after the president departed for his first overseas trip.

Elijah Cummings, the senior Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, said the panel should request White House documents related to the May 10 meeting and subpoena them if necessary.

"Comey served his country with honour for many years, and he deserves an opportunity to tell his story. Given his commitment to the people and the mission of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, we expected him to be responsive to the senators responsible for vetting its next proposed leader". The White House is defending Trump's words and actions, claiming that letting Comey go was a negotiating tactic aimed at allowing the U.S.to better engage with Russian Federation. These figures include former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

"It's Jared Kushner. Have confirmed this with four people".

According to a minute of a meeting read to the New York Times, the U.S. president said sacking Mr Comey had relieved "great pressure" on him.

That flies in the face of the White House's public insistence that Comey's dismissal was not linked to his ongoing investigation. You might have thought it was a worse idea to exclude American press, or to omit from the official White House account that Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, who's at the center of the investigation, was in attendance.

"This was a five-alarm fire from early on.the way the Russians were talking about him", an official of the previous Obama administration said.

Did he or didn't he?

"When I made a decision to just do it, I said to myself - I said, you know, this Russian Federation thing with Trump and Russian Federation is a made-up story", he told NBC News' Lester Holt.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer called the President's rhetoric part of his deal-making.
