England hope Champions Trophy provides elusive title

Amongst the current squads taking part in the tournament, there are a lot of players who have an vast amount of experience having played in a number of Champions Trophies and World Cups.

England will look to underline just how much they have moved on from that match when they face the Tigers in the tournament opener at The Oval on Thursday. Azhar Ali isn't leading the side anymore and the responsibility has been bestowed upon Sarfraz Ahmed, who will be leading the side in his first major ICC tournament.

But the animated Sarfraz, who was often spotted screaming instructions at his fielders during the West Indies series, warned that Pakistan can not be counted out. Just to put things in perspective, England smashed 444 for 3 - the highest score in ODI cricket - and it took Pakistan five games to cross the 300-run mark. "There's perhaps a feeling that it's about time to win a One-Day tournament, which would be very nice, and they have been going well in the T20 competition as well".

All-rounder Faheem Ashraf has been included in Pakistan's side in an attempt to check youngsters mettle ahead of the eight team tournament.

"I think my aim is to just play our natural game, just play freely".

Trevor Bayliss' charge have won five out of their six series since early 2016 and will go into the Champions Trophy full of confidence.

He said the team has rectified the mistakes it made in the West Indies. While Tamim showed consistency in his batting another left-hander, Imrul Kayes, took the opportunity to give the team management the message that he was ready to play whenever the team requires his service.

Pakistan start their campaign against India on June 4 and a lot of hype has been created, as expected, for that clash.

"Pressure is something they'll have to deal with, but I think they'll be well led", Hussey said. "We are looking to maintain that against them and it's very exciting", he said at his pre-tournament press conference. "We don't see us as having a surprise element, we want to come here and play free cricket, starting against India".

Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed is hopeful for success in the warm-up match as well as in the main event.
