Fallen officers honored at Berrien Co. Law Enforcement Memorial service

Candles were lit to honor the fallen officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in Acadiana and prayers said on their behalf. The service is taking part at 11025 Voyager Parkway in Colorado Springs.

A rose was placed on the peace officer memorial for each of the fallen officers of Central Texas who died on the force. It will also be the site of the National Law Enforcement Museum, now under construction.

Williams also told the audience of a conversation he had with Officer Adam Liddle of the Waterloo Police Department on the heels of a Supreme Court ruling that curtailed law enforcement's ability to carry out searches.

The UK Police Memorial is planned for completion in 2019, and its design will incorporate the names of more than 1800 police officers and staff who died from injuries they received in the course of lawful duty since the service began.

Williamson said that almost every day there is a story about another law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty. "Campus public safety officers know that someday they may have to make the ultimate sacrifice".

"It's a duty and a responsibility for law enforcement agencies, as well as the community, to remember the sacrifice of the officers who did give their lives and service to the community, as well as the families that are left behind". "I am confident the six pieces of legislation that will be voted on this week will provide USA law enforcement with the federal resources and support they need to continue keeping us safe".

State troopers on Sunday will lay wreaths on the grave sites of the five Mississippi Highway Patrol officers killed on duty in the six southern counties.

With tensions being high in the past year with police.GJPD says it's important to get to know the people they serve on a first name basis.

City Councilman Dillon Meek proclaimed May 14 to May 20, 2017 Peace Officer Memorial Week in Waco.

"We get daily reminders of Joe and Ron, when you walk into the courthouse - and of course as you get closer to July 11, the one-year anniversary", said Rick Lull, the security supervisor for the Berrien County Trial Court.

Following Wednesday's ceremony, the department held a barbecue fundraiser to support its benevolent fund.
