Peace Officers Memorial Day and National Police Week are observances that pay tribute to local, state, and Federal officers who have died or been disabled in the line of duty. "Today we mourn every peace officer we have lost, and we remember their selfless dedication and commitment to upholding the Rule of Law in Texas".

Massachusetts State Trooper Thomas Clardy and Auburn Police Officer Ronald Tarantino were included in a list of 143 law enforcement officers whose names will be engraved onto the wall of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
