Liverpool win transfer battle with Celtic for Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke

Liverpool are set to sign Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke after his Blues contract expires this summer.

The 19-year-old and Chelsea stalled on contract negotiations this season and Antonio Conte left Solanke to spend most of his time outside of the matchday squad.

A Premier League tribunal will set the compensation fee as the player is under 24.

Solanke is expected to earn £20,000 a week at Anfield, and will likely feature in Liverpool's Under-23 side before being promoted to the senior squad.

Solanke has plundered goals for Chelsea's various youth sides, but has never been given much of a sniff for the first-team, under any manager. However, they evidently didn't believe he warranted the wages that he was demanding, and in turn their loss could potentially turn out to be Liverpool's huge gain.

Solanke has chosen to continue his career at Anfield, having made a decision to let his terms at Stamford Bridge run down.

Based on multiple reports from club-connected journalists, it's only a matter of time now before Liverpool sign the promising young striker to a £20k per week deal.

Solanke - who is now representing England at the Under-20 World Cup - was once regarded as one of Chelsea's top prospects of the future, but his one and only appearance in the first team came as a substitute against Maribor in 2014.

With 24 goals in 48 games for England across various youth levels, Solanke has shown real promise in front of goal, and Liverpool will hope that he can live up to his potential on Merseyside having found first-team football nearly impossible to come by at Chelsea.
