Refreshed Apple Laptops Expected at WWDC

If the current 13-inch MacBook Air is still selling reasonably well given all of its deficits, then one with new processors and the changes outlined above could do really well in the marketplace, potentially enabling Apple to accelerate share gains against Windows-based notebooks.

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be seeing more than software announcements as reports have surfaced that new MacBooks will be revealed at the event.

Apple is also planning to update its smaller and thinner MacBook laptops with the new processors, too, so you'll want to make sure you aren't buying that right now either. However, rumors about Apple Macbook Air 2017's release date, specs and price continued to pour in. Aside from that, the tech giant is also working on a new variant of the 12-inch MacBook with a much faster Intel chip.

The MacBook refresh would also come at an important time for the iPhone maker. In the second quarter, the company sold 4.2 million desktops and laptops and generated 14 percent more revenue on Macs than in the quarter a year earlier.

I'm still making good use out of my trusty, late 2013 MacBook Pro, but what I'm not making good use out of is the original power adapter and cord.

It has been nearly seven years since Apple last redesigned the MacBook Air. Although the model faced a lot of criticism when it was first launched, with users disappointed about several decisions Apple took - including removal of Thunderbolt 3 ports, the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar seems to be doing well in the market. The most recent MacBook Pro, released more than 500 days after its predecessor, added a Touch Bar keyboard strip for quick access to app functions, a larger trackpad and a fingerprint log-in sensor.

Barely a month before the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2017, Apple must now be gearing up with the surprises on its sleeve. As far as the records are the concern, sales of the MacBook Air "remain surprisingly strong" because of its affordability.

The stall in Mac updates has not been limited to laptops.
