Tulane Outdoor Track & Field qualifies nine to NCAA East Regional

A total of 11 Chanticleer student-athletes from the men's and women's track and field programs will represent Coastal Carolina University, in 13 events, at the 2017 NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round to be held in Lexington, Ky., at the UK Outdoor Track and Field Complex, from May 25-27.

It will be the fourth trip for Krzyszkowski in javelin, the second for Feivor (5,000 meters in 2015) and the first for both Armstrong and Parker.

The meet, hosted by the Texas Longhorns, is comprised of the top 48 individuals in each event from the region competing for a spot in the NCAA Championships. The combined 24 declared competitors in each event from the two sites will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 7-10.

The men qualified multiple athletes in five events, including the javelin throw (junior Donny Crabill, senior Eric Hoff, senior Taylor Hulslander), 200-meter dash (senior Zach Johnson, junior Jamiel Trimble), 400-meter dash (junior Tyler Koss, sophomore Sedacy Walden), 10,000-meter run (senior Kyle Eller, junior Andrew Johnston) and 110-meter hurdles (sophomore Micah Fontaine, Trimble). Karol Koncos (64.29m) will be heaving the hammer throw on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Koncos heads into his first NCAA West Prelims ranked 18th. Quarterfinal - Friday, May 26, at 8:20 p.m.

On the men's side, Jonah Koech (3:41.22) and Cosmas Boit (3:45.97) will take part in the 1,500m run on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. Asa Guevara (46.92) will race in the 400m at 6:45 p.m. She ran splits of 3:21.9 over 1200 meters (DMR), 4:23.6 over 1500 meters (4x1500) and 2:09.03 over 800 meters (4x800) at the Penn Relays. The time was her fastest outdoors and her second-fastest overall in a race during the collegiate season.

Foster finished the regular season ranked second in the Big Sky Conference. Burda won the BIG EAST title in the 5000 meters last weekend after previously being the runner-up at both the 2016 outdoor conference meet and this year's indoor meet.
