The long-awaited sequel to Beyond Good & Evil is indeed real, and we have proof: Ubisoft just released a surprise cinematic trailer for the game at the publisher's E3 keynote.

The game is set before the birth of Jade in a world called System 3, which is a stunning new solar system full of diverse characters including the awesome space monkeys.

We don't have a release date, but this game is definitely happening, and we here at GameZone couldn't be more excited.

According to a Ubisoft blog post, Beyond Good & Evil 2 will again have Michel Ancel leading the second game in the franchise.

Nearly 15 years from the original was released, Beyond Good and Evil's finally sequel - or to be more precise, prequel sees players journeying to System 3 - a multicultural world whereby private entities ruthlessly compete over resources and power. Now, we have an official trailer for the game and we are extremely excited. You'll be able to play online in co-op; so in the trailer when one character is driving and another is shooting from the back of the vehicle, that's something you'll actually see in gameplay.

System 3 is the center of interstellar trade and colonization in the Milky Way of the 24th century, courtesy of the creation of hybrid slaves.

It's been a long time coming, but Ubisoft have finally announced Beyond Good & Evil 2.

Beyond Good and Evil 2's solar system will be a "massive, seamless online environment" which can be explored alone or with friends. They don't mention when the game will arrive, or for what systems, but they definitely wanted gamers to know that diversity and multiculturalism was at the top of the list.

The trailer begins with an anthropomorphic monkey trading a relic for a disc with a sinister-looking pig-man sporting a Fu Manchu moustache. Those interested can sign up at for more information. Ever year, I hope for Beyond Good and Evil 2, and every year I get stupid Ghost Recon or Steep or some other game that isn't Beyond Good and Evil 2.
