Bill Cosby's chief accuser denies romance before alleged assault

"I said, 'I trust you.' I took the pills and I swallowed them down", Constand told the court.

The sexual assault trial of Bill Cosby is underway, and his accuser will return to the witness stand today to continue cross examination from the entertainer's lawyers. Instead, he watched the jury or the lawyers questioning her.

Ms Constand managed the women's basketball team at Temple, Cosby's alma mater, while he was a high-profile trustee. They were introduced by a donor during one of the team's games.

Constand sued Cosby in 2005 after prosecutors initially decided not to charge him.

Constand, who was 30 at the time, was at Cosby's Elkins Park home to discuss new professional opportunities. She also has a brother-in-law, who is a Canadian police officer.

Victoria Valentino is one of several Cosby accusers attending the trial. Cosby has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

At the same time, she said, Cosby became more flirtatious and suggestive - grabbing her thigh during one encounter at his home and attempting to unbutton her trousers in another. "I thought I was having a bad reaction and I was panicking a little bit, but I knew I couldn't really get up and go anywhere at the same time because my legs were rubbery".

"The room was dark, and there was a nice mood in the room, correct?" she said.

"I trusted him", Constand testified. She also said she received another call in which her daughter claimed Cosby was pressuring her boss, the comedian's agent, to get rid of her. He also had her drink some wine, according to Constand.

Later, her vision began to blur and she was seeing double, she said.

Sometime later, she said she was "jolted awake" to find Cosby touching her chest and moving her hand on his genitals. Legal experts say the case will essentially boil down to her word against his.

On Tuesday, the defense asked her why she continued to see him after those reported attempts. They have even adopted the symbol of a bright pink gladiolus flower as a symbol of their strength and resilience - a symbol that Constand proudy displays on her tattooed arm.

The stage was set for her testimony after prosecutors used the first day and a half of the trial to argue that Cosby made a habit of knocking women out with pills and then molesting them.

"I felt really humiliated and I was really confused", Constand said, wiping tears from her eyes.

"They're your friends. They'll take the edge off, " she quoted him as saying. Constand said the calls to her university-issued cellphone pertained to Temple women's basketball, and stopped once she left the school. Cosby is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Constand a.

Constand said the last thing she recalls from the alleged incident is waking up around four or five in the morning, and walking towards the kitchen, where Cosby was.

During one exchange, Agrusa suggested that Constand once enjoyed a romantic dinner at Cosby's home before the alleged assault.

Calm and composed, Andrea Constand brushed off suggestions she and Cosby had a romantic relationship before the 2004 encounter at his suburban Philadelphia home.

Ms Constand has been barred from talking about her allegations for almost 12 years, following a successful civil case she brought against the comedian in 2006.

Some 60 women have come forward to say Cosby had sexually violated them, all but destroying his nice-guy image, but the statute of limitations for prosecution had run out in almost every case.

Cosby, 79, is charged with aggravated indecent assault and he could be jailed for 10 years if convicted.

Phone records showed Constand called Cosby 53 times between January 20, 2004, days after the incident, and March 31, 2004, when she left Temple University, including twice on Valentine's Day. "I remember wanting to pull up my dress and wanting to cover myself, but not being able to", Johnson said. Before being asked about how she came to meet Cosby, the prosecution asked her to point Cosby out in the courtroom. He then apologized to Andrea and her mother, Gianna Constand said. "I was obviously very distraught at. just the fact that he betrayed her". "So I just went along with them".
