Bryce Harper vs. Manny Machado: Whose mound-charging aptitude is best?

Bryce Harper launched one of these team fights between his Washington Nationals and the San Francisco Giants on Memorial Day, but in his rage he did something so ridiculous that social media ended having a field day ragging on it.

Harper and Strickland have somewhat of a history, which is why some think the throw was on goal, according to ESPN.

The two players have a history of acrimony, dating back to the 2014 NL Division Series, when Harper hit two monster home runs off Strickland.

"Yeah, I can see how that kind of stands in peoples' minds", Strickland said.

Strickland opened the eighth inning with a 98-mph fastball that hit Harper in the right hip.

Washington manager Dusty Baker went as far as to support Harper's decision to charge the mound given Monday's circumstances.

And Harper also spoke after the game, revealing his frustrations. He said he wasn't thinking about that accident, but he was concerned about injuries. "Those are some big guys tumbling on the ground". "It was a little risky".

His eyes were wide as he flung his helmet - it sailed wide of Strickland - and they started swinging. Harper at least hit Strickland with a fist to the face, but it is impossible to say how much force was absorbed by that $40 masterpiece of monetization.

And when the Washington Nationals and San Francisco Giants cleared their benches Monday and punches flew both ways, the All-Star catcher did his best to remain just outside the fray.

Strickland, about an hour after the fight, said he's not sure what will happen in terms of discipline. "I left the ball over the plate a couple of times to him and he's taken advantage of that". Strickland is still caught up in the past (a past in which he became a World Series champion I might add), so if he can't even take the good that comes with the greatest achievement in the game, then my guess is that he's insufferable to be around when the team is losing like they have been this season. 'He didn't come up and in toward my face like some guys do, so I respect him on that level.' Strickland said he missed his spot.

PIRATES 4, DIAMONDBACKS 3 Andrew McCutchen hit a leadoff home run in the ninth inning, lifting host Pittsburgh over Arizona.

METS 4, BREWERS 2: Hours after the Mets ticketed him for the bullpen, rookie Robert Gsellman pitched seven innings of three-hit ball and had two RBIs to lead NY past the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2 on Monday.

MARLINS 4, PHILLIES 1 Edinson Volquez pitched six innings to earn his first victory of the year after seven losses.

WHIE SOX 5, RED SOX 4: Red Sox lefty David Price had an uneven season debut while Melky Cabrera homered and drove in four runs, helping the Chicago White Sox rally past Boston 5-4 on Monday.
