E3 2017: Mario/Rabbids Crossover XCOM-Style Game Confirmed With First Trailer

Sporting a replica of a weapon seen in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Miyamoto shared some endearingly awkward patter with Ubi's Yves Guillemot through an interpreter.

The game involves a party composed of both sets of characters adventuring through a Mario-style world.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll already know Ubisoft is developing Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle for Nintendo Switch.

When the Mushroom Kingdom is thrown into chaos by a mysterious vortex, it's only natural that Mario, Peach, Luigi, and Yoshi come to the rescue.

Ubisoft met with Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto in 2014 and showed him a prototype for a new Rabbids game featuring Mario. Those iconic green pipes have sprouted Rabbid ears and turned white, and many other sights familiar to Nintendo fans have been caught up in the craziness. When entering a battle, the game switches from exploration mode to a limited area where they can fight take strategic positions and fight enemies. Turns begin and you have a blue zone to work with and you can also hide behind cover.

But now, finally, the game has been made official at the opening of Ubisoft's E3 press conference - and it even has a release date: 29th August.

It's now available for pre-order on the Ubistore for $149.99.
