E3 2017: Sony teases virtual reality games

Most were new IPs, but there were some games that are a variant of an existing title.

When Polygon went hands on with Superhot VR in December, we talked about how much we enjoyed the unique gameplay elements the VR version of the game brought and how it felt like an entirely new experience. You can weave your way through waves of bullets, and tactically fire shots ahead of your enemies before moving and watching them all drop to the floor.

While now only available on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive since its initial release back in December, Superhot VR is officially coming to PlayStation VR this summer.

Personally, I think SUPERHOT VR is one of the best games available on any VR platform and a must-play for any PS VR owner, who at this point is likely pretty eager to play something new on the still young Sony platform. When Sony initially filed the trademark earlier today, we speculated that a return to SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals may be on the cards, but it turns out that Bravo Team is a standalone PlayStation VR experience. At the press conference of Nintendo Switch, the game developer announced the new game.

Another new PSVR title was announced during tonight's Sony E3 stream was the high-concept game Star Child. Skyrim VR will be released this November.

While VR support for Final Fantasy XV had previously been confirmed, it looks like the VR mode has undergone a bit of a change - it now takes the form of some fishing-based DLC. According to Brian Blau, a video game analyst with Gartner, Sony is considering using VR to differentiate its product from those of its peers.

The announcement doesn't mention support for mods. And now that it's available for console, it's an essential mod for Xbox One.

Trust us, this one is very, very good.
