French Open king Nadal hails Uncle Toni after 10th French Open title

Rafael Nadal swept the men's French Open final on Sunday, 6-2, 6-3, 6-1, laying down an overwhelming performance Sunday against Stan Wawrinka.

Nadal took down Stan Wawrinka in the finals at Roland Garros in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, 6-1.

Indeed it is a feat that may never be duplicated.

Nadal was given a time violation warning at the start of the second, but Wawrinka could not halt his charge as the Spaniard bounded into a 3-0 lead in the second. "I am in a good position". For me the nerves, the adrenaline that I feel when I play in this court is impossible to compare to another feeling. Hard to compare to other places.

"The feeling that I have here is impossible to describe and is hard to compare to other places", Nadal said, struggling to contain his emotions. "It is the most important event in my career, to win again here is impossible to describe".

Rafael Nadal is jubilant as he holds the trophy. He remained at his side throughout his career, but this year, Toni announced he will be stopping travelling with his nephew and will be replaced by Carlos Moya, one of tennis' former superstars, as one of Nadal's coaches.

Nadal, who has been beset by injury issues during those intervening years, believes it is the way that he responds to adversity that has enabled him to reach such heights.

For Nadal, this was a goal he had always worked towards.

The second set was much more slanted toward Nadal from the onset. But the thing that I am more proud of in my career probably is 2013. Top title winners in Open Era: Federer (18), Nadal (15), Sampras (14), Novak Djokovic (12), Roy Emerson (12), Borg and Rod Laver (11). In six matches so far in Paris, he has not dropped a set and lost only 29 games. He averaged less than two hours on court.

Former top-ranked Andy Roddick has expressed his astonishment at Rafael Nadal's incredible run to his 10th French Open title. He creates a doubt that you can not have if you want to beat him.

"It's true that 10 is a attractive number, but actually my favourite is nine", said Nadal, the nine-time champion at Roland Garros. But the 31-year-old King of Clay absolutely dominated this year's event, cruising through seven matches without dropping a single set.

He's not the first to experience it at the hands of Nadal in Paris.

There is no greater challenge in tennis than trying to defeat Nadal in a best-of-five set match on clay, so Wawrinka looked back on his fortnight with fondness once the immediate disappointment faded.

Third seed Wawrinka, the 2015 victor, struggled for the majority of the match, committing 29 unforced errors to suffer his first grand slam final defeat in four appearances.
