Golden State Warriors Get The Best Of The NBA's First Finals Trilogy

The Golden State Warriors did not blow a 3-1 lead in 2017 as they beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games in the 2017 NBA Finals, but LeBron James' legacy was cemented even before the 2016-17 season tipped off last October.

Their one title came past year when the Cavs became the first National Basketball Association team to rally from a 3-1 Finals deficit to deliver the city its first major championship since 1964.

- The Warriors averaged 119.3 points per game throughout the playoffs.

James couldn't do much more to help the Cavaliers, finishing Game 5 with 41 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists, and averaging a triple-double in the series.

Durant said the Rihanna dustup - Durant appeared to stare her down after he hit a late three-pointer in Game 1 - was a personal highlight during the Finals.

Kyrie Irving followed up his 40-point gem in Friday's Game 4 with 26 points, but he shot 9 for 22.

Curry embraced Durant's arrival after the Warriors dropped last year's finals to Cleveland in seven games, an unselfish attitude that reflected Durant's desires and created an inside-outside pairing that was almost unstoppable.

It wasn't just that Durant scored a lot of points, but how and when he scored them.

That would be his mom, Wanda Durant, who he proclaimed was the "real MVP" immediately after winning the award of regular season MVP in 2014.

The Warriors won in 2015 before the Cavs made their historic comeback a year ago.

Curry is an unrestricted free agent this summer and Durant can become one with a player option. This time, Curry, Durant and the rest of the team silenced Cleveland before they had a chance to make more noise. West, Thompson and J.R. Smith received technicals after a replay review.

While the Warriors released an official statement saying they hadn't been invited yet, forward Andre Iguodala already has made up his mind.

After the Warriors defeated the Cavs on Monday evening, Lee Jenkins wrote about the significant exchange Green had with Durant a year ago. "If KD was the consolation prize to lose, thanks for that loss, and we're champs this year".

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has been openly critical of President Trump in the past, calling him a "blowhard" and "ill-suited" to be president.

They won the first three games of the series but lost the fourth.

James is a transcendent talent who is asked too many times to win the game on his own.

A few of the players were able to come together at the end.
