Here's What To Look For At Apple's WWDC Next Week

Developers have now earned more than $70 billion through the App Store, Apple announced on Thursday in the run up to its Worldwide Developers Conference on June 5.

Reports are now emerging that Apple's Siri-enabled smart speaker has gone into production overseas. Recently, Google Home was updated with a calling functionality and Amazon Echo got a brother with a touch screen called Echo Show.

"The new HP digital assistant featuring Cortana is a standalone personal assistant device that does not need to connect to a Windows 10 PC to provide a complete intelligent speaker experience", Microsoft said in a statement to The Verge.

Ahead of Apple's launch, the competition has upgraded their speakers with support for making voice calls, while Amazon's gained a touchscreen. Among other stunning feature, Siri speaker, which is being manufactured by Inventec, will sport "virtual" surround-sound technology.

Apple might even make the Siri speaker adaptive to whatever room its in.

The technology giant's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) begins on Monday, where chief executive Tim Cook could also reveal a new iPad and additions to the MacBook laptop and Mac desktop computer lines.

Apple is looking to differentiate the Siri speaker from its competitors, including Amazon's Echo devices and Google Home gadgets.

But the biggest benefit to Apple won't be from sales of the new smart speaker, but how it impacts Apple's services ecosystem. However, expects service revenue to double by 2020 from last year's $24 billion. Along with producing virtual surround sound, Siri speaker is being tested and is said to be louder than its rivals. Reports earlier in the year suggested select Apple staff were already testing out the hardware and software in their homes, as the device was refined.

Apple also pushed back against that notion that apps have peaked and that people aren't downloading as many as the used to.

The only thing Apple fans love more than new product rumours is actual new products.
