It's a girl? Venus Williams opens up on Serena's baby

With sister Venus having confirmed today that Serena is expecting a girl, the choice for Williams to don flowers seems both timely and symbolic.

She announced in late December that she was engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.

She then said all the baby's aunties are fighting over who the baby should be named after, adding: "Every day we're like, Baby Vee, Baby Isher, Baby Lyn, so we all want the baby to be named after us".

Last month, Serena admitted she revealed her pregnancy news to the world by accident, after mistakenly uploading a photograph on Snapchat.

In her first 10 visits to the French Open, Williams had a 31-10 record and winning percentage of 75, reaching the 2002 final, where she lost to Serena, and four other quarter-finals.

Mattek-Sands, however, kept her cool, despite Kvitova's minibreak and watched as the Czech conceded defeat with her ninth double fault, leaving her to plan her return to Wimbledon.

"I did not grow up with brothers, only sisters and we all say "she" more than "he", she continued.

She was at Roland Garros on Wednesday watching her older sister defeat Kurumi Nara in the second round on the showpiece Philippe Chatrier court.

Wearing a yellow swimsuit, she posed to the side to flaunt her blossoming figure, writing "20 weeks" in the caption over the photo.

She referred to baby as "she", and listed a series of potential female names. Here's hoping it involves Serena's wedding or the birth of her first child. She had not previously addressed the baby's gender, but she has shared her excitement about becoming a mum.

"Patrick Mouratoglou said via the Associated Press that she recently texted him to say, "'It's going to sound weird, but I'm going on the court.

It was not a good day, though, for Ekaterina Makarova, conqueror of top seed Angelique Kerber in round one but knocked out 6-2 6-2 by Lesia Tsurenko in round two.
