Kathy Griffin Tears Up During Press Conference, Says Trump is Bullying Her

Griffin said the shoot was inspired by comments Trump made about television journalist Megyn Kelly in 2015.

She was sacked from CNN as co-host of the company's annual New Yea's Eve coverage.

She said one of the worst parts of the conference was when Griffin lied and said that she would never hurt a child, in reference to Trump's tweet that his 11-year-old son, Barron, is "having a hard time with this".

Backlash against Griffin has continued to grow and the comedian said five of her performances had been cancelled this week.

In the aftermath of a gory photo featuring comedian Kathy Griffin holding a severed, bloody head of USA president Donald Trump, Griffin said her "career is over" and that Trump "broke her", addressing the backlash from both sides of the aisle in a press conference on Friday. While the 56-year-old apologized in response to the outrage-saying she feels "horrible"-she also said the backlash from the first family is bullying".

Comedian Kathy Griffin (C) cries during a news conference in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, U.S., June 2, 2017. "I love what I do, I love making people laugh more than anything in the world".

Griffin, though, said she doesn't plan to back down.

During the press conference, Griffin said, "If you don't stand up, you get run over".

"Kathy never imagined it could be misinterpreted as a threat of violence against Trump", Bloom said.

Sen. Al Franken also dis-invited Griffin from an event promoting his new book, Giant of the Senate. "I understand why Minnesotans were upset by this, and I take that very seriously". The man strongly resembled President Donald Trump. While theaters and venues are dropping scheduled shows.

Earlier in the day, Griffin and her lawyers spoke out days after the comedian shared an image of herself holding up a prop meant to represent President Trump's severed, bloody head.

Attorney Lisa Bloom says Griffin will discuss the photo and video she and celebrity photographer Tyler Shields posted on Tuesday.

The resulting blowback costed her a gig co-hosting CNN's New Year's Eve coverage with Anderson Cooper, a job she has held for 10 years, and several stand-up comedy appearances.
