Novak Djokovic hires Andre Agassi as coach for French Open

Novak Djokovic confirmed after his Italian Open final loss to Alexander Zverev that Andre Agassi will be his coach at the French Open.

His stunning performance against Djokovic also made Zverev the youngest player since Juan Martin del Potro in 2008 to break into the Top 10.

In the opening set, Zverev won 20 of his 22 points on serve to Isner's 19 of 29, and over the course of the match he struck more aces: 12 to 8.

"You're an unbelievable player".

On his decision to link-up with Agassi, who won five Grand Slams as a player, current world No 2 Djokovic said: 'Andre is someone that I have tremendous respect for as a person and as a player.

But the setback seemed only to inspire the 30-year-old Serbian second seed, as he set up what is expected to be a mouthwatering final, and first meeting, with Germany's Alexander Zverev.

"Getting the trophy from Mr. Laver is something very special and something I'll remember for the rest of my career", Zverev said. Getting there is one thing, but staying there is going to be very, very hard.

"Against someone like Novak, it's always very tough to get into rallies".

"So all tournament I served quite well, so I was quite comfortable on my serve. I wanted to get a shot from the beginning, so it worked out well". Just a lot of wind and just very fast and bouncing.

The last German to reach a Masters 1000 final was Nicolas Kiefer in Toronto in 2008; the last to win one was Tommy Haas in 2001 in Stuttgart. But also, on the other hand, he s someone that nurtures the family values, philanthropy work.

Djokovic added, "I already feel like we are very kind of close to each other and creating this nice vibe". Just couldn't find any rhythm.

World No. 2 Novak Djokovic will be coached by American tennis great Andre Agassi at this year's Roland Garross (May 28 - June 11).

Agassi is a former world No 1 and had retired in 2006 from competitive tennis.

In the women's event, Ukraine's Elina Svitolina triumphed with a 4-6 7-5 6-1 win over Romania's Simona Halep. While the defending French Open champion did not play his best tennis, credit goes to Zverev for being locked in from the get-go.

The match lasted 1 hour, 21 minutes.

"And disappointed with the way I played, especially after the match yesterday (in thrashing Dominic Thiem), but it is what it is".
