Qatar crisis: Qatar seeks Kuwaiti mediation after powerful Arab nations shun it

Qatar said the decisions would "not affect the normal lives of citizens and residents".

"I won't comment on this issue now as certainly, we call for settling all challenging issues, all differences and misunderstanding through political and diplomatic dialogue", Peskov told reporters.

Pakistan said some of its citizens who were en route to Saudi Arabia were stranded in Doha after their Qatar Airways flight to Jeddah was canceled.

Qatar Airways, one of the region's major long-haul carriers, has suspended all flights to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain until further notice. The countries also said they would eject Qatar's diplomats.

Following the diplomatic crisis, Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met his Omani counterpart Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah.

"The Middle East is not at a point where it can endure a new crisis", he said.

UK-based aviation consultant John Strickland told Al Jazeera the local travel disruptions were "unprecedented".

Egypt and the UAE accused Qatar of supporting and funding Islamic State, al- Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates made no demands of Qatar as their decision plunged the global travel hub into chaos and ignited the biggest diplomatic crisis in the Gulf since the 1991 war against Iraq. Shi'ite Iran is in a tussle for regional supremacy with Riyadh.

But Qatar's Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, told broadcaster Al Jazeera the country would "still have access to the world through worldwide sea lanes and global airspace".

Etihad, Emirates, Fly Dubai and Gulf Air said Monday they would halt all flights in and out of Doha starting Tuesday morning.

An Iranian official, Reza Nourani, chairman of the union of exporters, says they can export food to Qatar by sea, adding that shipments can reach Qatar in 12 hours.

Saudi Arabia, which leads a coalition of nations fighting in support of Yemen's government, also said Qatar's forces would be withdrawn from that fight.

Saudi Arabia and its allies accuse Qatar of supporting terror groups in the region.

Any suggestion Qatar is backing the agenda of Shiite-dominated Iran - Sunni Saudi Arabia's regional arch-rival - is especially sensitive.

Doha also decided not to retaliate against the measures.

Qatar long has faced criticism from its Arab neighbors over its support of Islamists. It said it ordered shipping agents not to receive any vessels owned by Qatari companies or Qatari nationals and not to unload any goods from Qatar.

Signs of an impending crisis emerged last month.

Qatar later clarified the news agency was hacked, and that the report quoting the Emir was 'fake news'.

"Nothing short of a fundamental change in policy by Qatar would change this", he said.
