Qatar Seeks Trump's Help, and Tillerson Delivers

"Intelligence gathered by the USA security agencies indicates that Russian hackers were behind the intrusion first reported by the Qatari government two weeks ago, United States officials say".

The list is an opportunity for Qatar "to change direction away from petulance and escalation", after the list of Qatar-linked "terrorists and terror groups" was issued by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt, Anwar Gargash, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, said on his twitter account, Xinhua reported. Oil-rich Qatar, which depends on food imports, especially from Saudi Arabia, denies allegations.

That was news to the Pentagon, which just minutes before said that the days-long blockade of Qatar had yet to interfere with US operations at al-Udeid, from which are launched many sorties of the U.S-led coalition against the Islamic State.

The Qatar News Agency has been offline since the alleged hack occurred and it's not clear if there was only one fake story planted, multiple, or any at all.

The newly issued list came hours after Qatar said it would not "surrender" and rejected any interference in its foreign policy.

President Donald Trump doubled down on his war of words with one of America's top Middle East allies, publicly undercutting one of his own senior aides and potentially threatening the future of a vital USA military base. The FBI has confirmed the hack may have resulted in fake-news sharing and that Russian Federation is a suspect. Russian Federation has since denied all involvement in the alleged hack, calling the CNN story "fake". Previously, the US had insisted the Qatar crisis wouldn't affect USA military efforts in the Middle East. "The blockade is hindering USA military actions in the region and the campaign against ISIS".

It wasn't immediately clear how Mr. Trump's sharp condemnation might affect USA cooperation with Qatar, which hosts some 10,000 US troops and a major USA air base that serves as a staging ground for operations in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.

"Qataris who study in Saudi, the UAE and Bahrain, we've had information that they were requested to leave immediately and they were not allowed to continue their final semester exams", he added.

But what they produced was more mixed signals as President Trump and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson contradicted each other in separate statements about the tiny Emirate, which happens to host the largest USA air base in the Middle East.

Secretary Tillerson told reporters at the State Department shortly before Trump's remarks that this blockade is hindering the us -led military campaign against ISIS, creating hardships for the people of Qatar and "impairing USA and other global business activities in the region". But Trump said that he, Tillerson and military leaders had decided during Trump's trip to Saudi Arabia last month that a public rebuke was needed.

While Tillerson did call attention to Qatar's "history of supporting groups that span the spectrum of political expression, from activism to violence", he also highlighted the timing of the blockade.

"Qatar has made efforts to prosecute significant terrorist financiers", the State Department said.

And the emir of Kuwait has met with two top United Arab Emirates officials to attempt to mediate the situation, the wire service says.

After speaking with leaders in the region, Tillerson said Friday in Washington that he believes the countries involved in the dispute - all U.S. allies - are stronger together, and "the elements of a solution are available".

Trump spoke with the emir of Qatar on Wednesday, the White House announced, and "offered to help the parties resolve their differences", by hosting a meeting if necessary.

Since the beginning of the week, a coalition of Arab states has blockaded Qatar, encouraged by a series of tweets from Donald Trump.

"They have to end that funding and its extremist ideology in terms of funding", he said, lumping Qatar in with other nations which he said must "stop teaching people to kill other people". The U.S. military has previously insisted that that it would not affect U.S. military operations in the region.

Qatar is open to mediation to resolve the crisis that has seen a group of nearby countries move to sever diplomatic ties with Doha, HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani has said. Increasing the pressure Friday, Qatar's neighbors put 12 organizations and 59 people on a terror sanctions list and described them as being associated with Qatar.
