Report of multiple casualties in incident on London Bridge

London's Metropolitan Police said armed officers were at two scenes - on the bridge and the nearby Borough Market, a busy area of restaurants and bars.

British police are investigating an incident that occurred on London Bridge Saturday evening, after witnesses reported that a vehicle mounted the pavement and mowed down pedestrians.

Prime Minister Theresa May is returning to Downing Street to be briefed by security officials and is understood to be preparing to chair a meeting of the Government's emergency response committee - Cobra - later today. "We need the Travel Ban as an extra level of safety!" he said in the other.

The witness said the van hit five to six people. Witness Elsbeth Smedley told CNN that a man ran into Elliot restaurant in Borough Market and stabbed two people before running out.

"The mayor issued a statement early Sunday in which he urged the public to remain calm as the situation is still unfolding".

Officers then attended a second incident at nearby Borough Market after reports of stabbings. He also called on the judicial system to reinstate his controversial travel ban and retweeted an unconfirmed report from the Drudge Report saying 20 people were struck by the van.

"At 0025hrs 4/6/17 the incidents at #LondonBridge & #BoroughMarket were declared as terrorist incidents".

Fox News cited witnesses who said that people had been stabbed, and some said they heard shots fired.

That's NPR's Frank Langfitt reporting from London.

"They were running out going, 'This is for Allah, ' and they stabbed this girl I don't know how many times", the man said.

Police say there is more than one fatality following the three separate incidents, the BBC reports.

Police are treating injured people and carrying them away at the end Thrale Street.

A witness told Reuters she saw people with apparent knife wounds on the bridge. The BBC showed dozens of people, evidently having been caught up in the attack, being escorted through a police cordon with their hands on their heads.

Vinny called LBC to say: "I was approaching London Bridge from Elephant and Castle and I saw police everywhere and people lying down on the floor". But they said later that turned out to be an unrelated stabbing.

The incident comes less than two weeks after 22 people were killed in a bomb blast following a Manchester concert.

One witness told Reuters that she saw what appeared to be three people with knife wounds and possibly their throats cut.

Police further said armed officers were responding to a third incident in the Vauxhall area. London Bridge, Bank, Vauxhall and Borough stations were closed, although Bank and Vauxhall have since reopened.

He says that his thoughts are with everyone affected.

Armed police officers from Scotland Yard rushed to respond, with police cars wailing their way to the scene.
