Stunning win for Corbyn and Thornberry as Labour do double in Islington

The scenario the team expected to be dealing with was one in the middle, which put Labour on about 35-36% of the vote.

"I'm very proud of our campaign that we have ran, our manifesto for the many, not the few, and I'm very proud of the results that were coming in tonight".

A celebratory Mr Corbyn said during his constituency victory speech that "politics has changed and it isn't going back into the box it was before".

Labour defied expectations to win 29 more seats and stop the Conservatives getting a majority.

Speaking across from Prime Minister Theresa May, Corbyn told the House of Commons that the Labour party is ready to provide "strong and stable" leadership should the Tories' "coalition of chaos" fail.

He said: "I would have thought [the result] is enough for [the Prime Minister] to go, actually, and make way for a government that will be truly representative of all people across the country".

She said: "At the start of the campaign, we were 10 points behind in the polls, which predicted Welsh Labour losing at least 10 seats".

REGARDLESS of your political views, everyone can appreciate this Jeremy Corbyn clip.

A British author ate his book during a live TV show after his prediction that the opposition Labour party would poll less than 38 per cent votes went wrong. "He [Mr Corbyn] has an incredible mandate".

Asked if the uncertainty created by a hung parliament was good for Britain, he replied: "A hung parliament is what we've been given, it's up to MPs to deal with that". They said that the Tory party was now engaging with some of the most reactionary and right-wing elements in DUP.
