Two Australians killed in London terror attack

The Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that Saturday's terror attack in the United Kingdom capital of London left two Australian nationals killed.

She was the second Australian fatality to be identified, after the family of South Australian nurse Kirsty Boden, 28, died while trying to help people wounded in the attack.

"We are working diligently in London with the police and other authorities there and of course, staying in very close contact with their families as we seek to confirm the circumstances relating to those two Australians", he said.

Kirsty's family says she was a free spirit who dreamed of travelling to as many "exotic locations as possible".

London's Metropolitan Police issued a statement from the family of 28-year-old Kirsty Boden praising her compassion and natural instinct to help.

"Kirsty was loved and adored by her family, friends and boyfriend", the statement said.

An "outgoing, kind, and generous" nurse who worked at a hospital in London was confirmed as the third victim of Saturday night's devastating terrorist attack. "We are so proud of Kirsty's fearless actions which demonstrate how selfless, caring and heroic she was".

"Sara Zelenak is confirmed dead they found her body and has DNA tests confirmed thankyou all for the overwhelming love and support from everyone, " Ms Wallace wrote on Facebook.

Ms Zelenak, from Brisbane, is believed to have become separated from her friends as they left the London Grind bar near the bridge when the attack happened.

He said in part, "It is truly humbling that bright, hard-working people like Kirsty were fearless enough to run towards danger in aid of victims lying helpless on the bridge following such a barbaric attack".

Australian media reported that she was from Loxton in southern Australia.

While Delcros remains seriously injured, the fate of her partner is unknown, the Metropolitan Police said.

As he was working on the busy Saturday night, one of the attackers ran into the restaurant and stabbed him in the neck.

Normandy news outlet La Manche Libre reported that Frederic Loinard, the mayor of nearby Colleville-Montgomery, where Pigeard has family, confirmed the death to locals on Tuesday.

Police have identified Canadian Christine Archibald, a 30-year-old social worker who worked at a homeless shelter before moving to Europe to be with her fiancé, as also among the dead. "In contrast, Kirsty truly epitomised the values of nursing, of public service and the compassion we associate with the NHS".

The Zelenak and Wallace family released a statement through the Met saying they were "devastated" by the loss.

The "Angel of London Bridge" and a much-loved Brisbane nanny are being mourned as Australian victims whose lives were claimed in the London terror attacks.

On Wednesday, journalist and relative Isabel Duran wrote on Twitter: "Ignacio Echeverria attacked the terrorists to try to save a woman".

Fears were growing last night that a missing Frenchman may have been struck by the attackers' van and thrown into the Thames.
