Warriors putting on a show vs. Cavaliers

Golden State beat the Cavs 132-113 with strong performances from Steph Curry and Kevin Durant.

Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant, left, drives on Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James during the second half of Game 2 of basketball's NBA Finals in Oakland, Calif., Sunday, June 4, 2017.

Kerr, who plans to handle the remainder of the final, pulled himself after feeling complications from a 2015 back operation following the team's game two win in the opening series against Portland. 20 in all, as opposed to the Cavaliers nine TO's, but Golden State scored 23 points off the Cavs' nine turnovers, while Cleveland managed just 14 points off the Warriors 20 TO's.

The Warriors blocked seven shots, including five by Durant, who became just the third player since 1984 to have a 30-point, 10-rebound, five-block game in the NBA Finals.

"We play that same game in Cleveland, there's no way we win", said Kerr.

"We've got to be better as far as not relaxing, not falling asleep, the loose balls, the 50/50 balls - we've got to get to those", said Tyronn Lue.

The Warriors, who welcomed back coach Steve Kerr after missing 11 games through back issues, have now won a record 14 straight play-off games. "And you are talking two of the greatest players that we got in this world locked in the way they are, that's why we're up 2-0". Curry had a triple-double, with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists, including this no-looker to Shaun Livingston.

Already 2-0 down in the series, James got a little testy when asked if Cleveland had to defend home court in the next two games. "They won their first two games like they're supposed to". "We can do better job of getting him going early".

All was right again for the Warriors with their leader back in his usual spot on the bench.

You can analyze all aspects of the game and it might be just as simple of Durant providing so much for the Warriors on both ends of the floor. He hadn't shot well in the Finals, well, ever, having been under 35 percent his past four Finals games dating to previous year.

Kyrie Irving scored 24 points in the opener and Love had a big day in Game 2, but starters Tristan Thompson and J.R. Smith have been almost invisible and the bench has offered little help.

"Our offense isn't the problem right now", Irving said. It was that level of leeway that was the basis of Golden State's pitch to Durant when the team met with him in free agency last July in the Hamptons.

Curry seized command in the third quarter with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists as the Warriors stretched a 67-64 half-time lead to 102-88 entering the fourth quarter.

"They're going keep to coming, man", Curry said.

James and Love combined to make 24 of 41 shots in Game 2, while the rest of the team shot just 36 percent, with only Irving even reaching double figures in scoring. You can chalk that up to an NBA Finals record 18 3-pointers from the Warriors.

But the only ones who don't want to think about history or future, focusing in on the now - and on trying to win one in Cleveland - are the Warriors. The win had added meaning since Kerr made a triumphant return to the sidelines for the first time since Golden State's first round series with the Trailblazers.
