Will Warriors skip White House visit over Trump policies?

If the Warriors do end up refusing their visit it would be a pretty significant statement as it would be pretty much unheard of for an entire team to not go.

After the shocking loss to the Cavaliers in last season's NBA Championship, Golden State fans have earned this celebratory lap!

The Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 129-120 to seal the hard-fought series 4-1.

Shortly before the team issued its statement, Warriors owner Joe Lacob was asked about a potential White House visit during an interview with ESPN's First Take. "We have not received an invitation to the White House, but will make those decisions, when and if necessary", the Warriors said in a statement to Sports Illustrated, attempting to squash the swirling speculation. "I'd be honored to welcome the team to the U.S. Capitol", Pelosi said on Twitter.

Veteran forward David West, who has been outspoken in his disapproval of President Donald Trump, told The Undefeated's Marc Spears on Monday night that he "probably" will decline the opportunity.

Even their coach Steve Kerr has been critical of the new POTUS.

Traditionally, college and professional championship teams have made the trek to the White House to be saluted by the President. When the chief executive of Under Armour, his shoe partner, described the president as a "great asset", the National Basketball Association players said he would agree with that description if the "et'" from asset is removed.

The New England Patriots visited Trump in April after winning the Super Bowl earlier in the year, with more than 20 players skipping the trip including quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady.
