A new Smash Bros. game has apparently been trademarked by Nintendo

Nintendo has filed a new Super Smash Bros trademark, which might mean that we could be getting a new Super Smash Bros game sometime in the future, if this means what we think (and hope) it means.

Although there is no official announcement at the moment, the website of Japanese Nintendo found trademarks of multiple brands, including amiibo, The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, characters for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Pokemori and Marika. Super Smash Bros could slot in nicely, so we'll keep an ear to the ground for more.

Super Smash Bros. could be the next major Nintendo franchise that will be announced for the Nintendo Switch, as evidenced by a new trademark filing.

A Super Smash Bros Switch release could take two forms. A Super Smash Bros. game for the Nintendo Switch, however, will be massively hyped up.

What Could A 'Super Smash Bros.' Nintendo Switch Version Be Like?

It was later revealed that Nintendo accidentally enabled GameCube controller support for the Nintendo Switch, which hushed the Super Smash Bros. rumors a bit. In the list, there were games like The Legend of Zelda, Xenoblade Chronicles X and, obviously, Super Smash Bros.

An old rumor has returned, it's about the possibility of seeing Super Smash Bros. on Switch, something that Nintendo fans have been waiting for a long time. We know about a few of the games Nintendo plans to launch, but if it wants to make 2018 as packed as 2017 was, it'll need more major releases.

Nintendo has been somewhat secretive about its 2018 line up for the Switch thus far.
