Aberdeen: Derek McInnes is committed to club despite Rangers speculation

"I think anyone who was at the original pre-determination hearing and heard Derek speak with the passion that he has for this football club, will understand that it is a big big part of Derek's life".

"Derek made his position very clear to me", Milne told Aberdeen's website. He has no intensions of going anywhere.

Rangers have now gone nearly a month without a permanent manager after axing Pedro Caixinha.

And, speaking before Rangers lost 2-1 against Dundee at Dens Park on Friday, McInnes backed up comments from chairman Stewart Milne in an interview this week that he remains fully committed to the club.

McInnes, 46, took the Aberdeen job in April 2013 following a disappointing spell with Bristol City, but he has more than rebuilt his reputation since heading to Pittodrie. He loves this club.

Derek McInnes has called for an end to speculation linking him to the vacant managerial role at Rangers, saying "enough is enough".

'I have never been one who feels the need to react to speculation and I don't see how I can pick and choose.

"He knows he's loved, he knows he's respected by everyone at the club and the fans out there".

Aberdeen finished second behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership last season and were also runners-up to the Glasgow side in the Scottish Cup and League Cup finals.

McInnes values the close relationship he has with the building tycoon, as was evident when he rejected a lucrative move to Sunderland earlier this year. "He firmly believes he has unfinished business here".

"He's always said to me that he didn't want to leave this club with just one trophy in the boardroom".

"He just wants to get on doing the job". Derek has spent a lot of time and effort, and money, I would add, over the summer rebuilding the team.

"Everyone recognises the fantastic job he and Tony have done".
