Conor McGregor tweet and deletes explanation for Bellator incident with referee

When Goddard attempted to pull McGregor away, he reacted furiously, pushing the referee and screaming insults.

The UFC lightweight champion had another run in with the well-respected referee on Friday night at Bellator 187, which took place at the 3Arena in Dublin.

McGregor looks set to return to the UFC in the coming months with the MMA promotion desperate to get him back in the octagon. Additionally, McGregor appeared to slap a Bellator official.

In a short-lived post on social media, McGregor expressed no regrets, saying, "Bloke KO'd on floor bout a minute straight and ref trying to say fights not over Conor. He lost fast and hard in both his UFC fights and was dropped by the UFC, and then he fought at Bellator", Kavanagh said during an interview with Ireland's TV3 on Monday evening.

"Family first. Everything else second". He was seen screaming at Goddard before finally exiting the ring.

Following Pacquaio's initial withdrawal, Horn as well as his camp had called out the likes of McGregor, who had been a rumoured opponent, and Mayweather for a fight, receiving lots of criticism in the process.

The MTDR has not formally disciplined McGregor, however, citing its lack of jurisdiction.

Many fans were disgusted by the infraction, accusing McGregor of giving a bad name to the sport and disrespecting the fighters.

The UFC has not yet commented on the situation.

McGregor's antics overshadowed Bellator's return to Ireland and are now the talk of the mixed martial arts world.

Mayweather, 40 years old, retired back August after stopping McGregor, who was making his pro boxing debut. The UFC wanted McGregor to return at UFC 219 on December 30 in Las Vegas, but negotiations have not produced a deal yet.
