Manchester United 'eye £134m summer move for Saul Niguez'

Germany global Ozil, 29, has reportedly made a decision to reject signing a new Arsenal contract, which means he will be free to discuss a Bosman move with foreign clubs from January onwards.

A midfielder in the Spanish top flight would reportedly be willing to join Jose Mourinho's Manchester United next season if they come calling.

United have also been repeatedly linked with Saul's Atletico teammate Antoine Griezmann, although Barcelona are understood to be leading the race for his signature now.

The Sun claims Ozil is holding out for wages of £330,000 to sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium, well in excess of the north London club's current salary structure. The Atletico Madrid boss is looking to take advantage of the lack of suitors for the German playmaker and bring him back to the La Liga, where he had an exceptional time with Real Madrid.

Premier League giants Arsenal are probably the club who have been in the news most frequently in the lead up to the January transfer window, and that is principally down to two men in particular.

A mammoth signing-on fee could swing talks in Atletico's favour and, after an 18-month transfer embargo for breaking Federation Internationale de Football Association rules over the transfer of under-age players, could have a sizable transfer fund burning a hole in their pocket.

"I have always said that the fact we didn't find an agreement past year doesn't mean the player will necessarily leave", he was reported as saying.

Atletico Madrid have contacted Arsenal's Mesut Ozil to offer him a return to Spain.
