More People Cry in Public Now Thanks to Netflix

Indians love watching Netflix on the go, with over 88 percent of subscribers in the country having binge-watched their favourite series outside the comforts of their homes, according to a company-sponsored survey that polled 37,056 people across 22 countries.

These addictive behaviours extend beyond the bathroom, with 34 per cent of Australians using Netflix on their daily commute, and 32 per cent tuning in while at a café or restaurant.

We understand if you want to watch the show in your own bathroom, but why in a public bathroom? And it's not just for those alone moments too - you might be in the back of a vehicle with someone and they're watching Netflix because 45% of those watching in the back seat of a auto have caught someone looking over their shoulder too.

All in all, with over 109 million members in a world with over 2.4 billion smartphone users, it's not surprising to discover that Netflix is taking over the public sphere and making "binge-free-zones" virtually nonexistent.

"Netflixing in public has become a social norm with 60 percent of Americans watching more movies and shows in public this year than last", Eddy Wu, Netflix director of production innovation, said in a statement.

Netflix have released some wonderful information about their Australian users today revealing that 59% of us like to stream our shows and movies on the go.

The next time you spot someone crying on the bus, just know that it's probably because they're watching their favorite show on the go.

In fact, access to movies and TV shows is among the top five travel essentials (44 per cent people voted for the access), along with WiFi (48 per cent) and a comfortable seat (49 per cent), a charger (41 per cent) and food (37 per cent).
