New Razer BlackWidow Ultimate water-resistant keyboard

New Razer BlackWidow Ultimate water-resistant keyboard

While water resistant keyboards aren't a new concept, they have received an increasing amount of attention lately with SteelSeries' Apex 150 and Razer's Cynosa Chroma.

Gaming hardware maker Razer has launched its latest mechanical keyboard, the Razer BlackWindow Ultimate in the United States as the holiday season approaches.

If two is a coincidence and three a trend, then the existence of both this keyboard and the Corsair K68, which features an IP32 rating, is indeed a coincidence.

Keyword here is: resistance and not waterproof so don't be immersing your keyboard in water to clean it. The higher the number, the better, with the highest number being 7 for dust protection and 9 for water resistance.

New Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Is Water- And Dust-Proof

Talking about the specifications, Razer BlackWindow Ultimate comes with Razer Green Mechanical Switches with 50 g actuation force with 80 million keystroke lifespan.

As with Razer's other PC gaming gear, there's options for customising the look of the keyboard through backlit LED keys. It will be available worldwide in Q4 2017. The key highlight of this new product is its IP54 rating where 5 refers to the water resistance and 4 refers to its dust resistance.

It's a unsafe situation for the average keyboard to find itself in, and so many inevitably fall victim to spilled drinks and sandwich crumbs. You'll be able to configure the backlighting effects and profiles using Razer's Synapse software.
