Serial killer fears reignited after body found in Seminole Heights

As police scoured the area for a suspect, residents were told to lock their doors and stay in place.

Authorities said they were called to the Seminole Heights neighborhood Tuesday morning for reports of shots fired.

Nearby residents are asked to remain in their homes, and bus service has been suspended in the area.

The man was shot just blocks from a memorial honoring the three victims killed in the Seminole Heights neighborhood.

Police say that they are treating Tuesday's suspicious death as a related case until they know differently. Many streets are closed as detectives search for the killer, conduct interviews and gather evidence.

Police have been boosting patrols in the area.

"I spoke with a woman who told me the man killed in Seminole Heights regularly helps with homeless outreach, and was out early to get set up", tweeted Meredyth Censullo‏ of WFLA. On Oct. 13, Monica Hoffa, 32, was found dead in a vacant lot after being shot.

The shooting was about three blocks away from where Monica Hoffa was shot and killed on October 11.

Anthony Naiboa, 20, was shot to death October 19 after he accidentally got on the wrong bus after leaving work and ended up in the neighborhood by mistake, police said.

On Oct. 9, victim Benjamin Mitchell, 22, was waiting for a bus on North 15th Street and Frierson Avenue in Tampa.

Police have released a video of a "person of interest" who was recorded running from the scene of the first murder.
