
The stand-up said she'd simply become too busy to continue her job on the daytime talk show, between three other TV shows and launching another career as a director, which she realized she wanted to devote more attention to.
Eve rounds out the panel that includes show creator Sara Gilbert, Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne, and Sheryl Underwood.
On Tuesday's episode of "The Talk" Eve was announced as a co-host on the show, filling the void left by Aisha Tyler, who exited the show in August.
Eve rose to fame in the late 90's in the world of hip-hop, peaking in 2001 with her Grammy-winning collaboration with Gwen Stefani for her biggest hit, "Let Me Blow Ya Mind". As an actress, Eve has had roles in "xXx", the "Barbershop" franchise, "Glee", and her self-titled UPN sitcom.
And Eve feels the same way about her new co-hosts.
"When I first got the first call in London, my manager told me about the opportunity, and at first I was like, 'I don't know, because it's far from from home, '" she exclusively tells PEOPLE.
"I'm hoping I gain a new audience." she adds. "I'm just in a place in my life where I was looking for a platform to express myself". She also does a voice on the FX comedy "Archer".
Tyler, who has already guest co-hosted this season, is expected join the ladies at the table and fill in as a co-host from time-to-time when scheduling permits.
