USA directly supports IS terrorists in Syria - Russian Defense Ministry

In May of a year ago, the Russian embassy in the United Kingdom was ridiculed after using a screenshot from the "Command and Conquer Generals" computer game to illustrate its claim that Nusra Front militants in Syria had received truckloads of "chemical ammo".

The US refused to conduct airstrikes over the leaving IS convoy.

The Defense Ministry specified that "the Russian force grouping command twice addressed the command of the US-led "international coalition" with a proposal to carry out joint actions to destroy the retreating ISIS convoys on the eastern bank of the Euphrates". Russian military also reportedly asked the Americans why the jihadists were "regrouping in the zone controlled by the worldwide coalition to conduct new attacks against the Syrian army in Abu Kamal", but received no response.

The ministry also said that the coalition's aviation tried to disturb Russia's Aerospace Forces near Abu Kamal to ensure safe exit of terrorists.

The ministry said the US air force had tried to hinder Russian strikes on Islamic State militants around the Syrian town of Albu Kamal.

"With this goal, coalition fighter jets were entering the 15-kilometer (9 mile) airspace around Abu Kamal in order to impede the activities of the Russian air force", they added.

The militants had been forced to retreat from the city of Abu Kamal in the Syrian province of Deir al-Zour, one of the last remaining IS strongholds in Syria, by the advancing government troops.

"Such actions by the coalition show that the rapid advance of the Syrian troops in Abu Kamal have disrupted US plans to create pro-American authorities beyond the control of the Syrian government, and to manage the territories on the eastern bank of the Euphrates", it said.

The now-deleted Twitter post, which was published today by the Russian Ministry of Defence account in Russian, English and Arabic, said that the images showed "irrefutable evidence that #US are actually covering ISIS combat units to recover their combat capabilities, redeploy, and use them to promote American interests in Middle East".
