VERDICT: Ferne McCann's ex-partner found guilty of acid attack

The attack took place on April 17 at Dalston's Mangle E8 club.

The attack left two people partially blinded and 22 injured.

Arthur Collins was convicted of five counts of grievous bodily harm with intent and nine counts of actual bodily harm against 14 people.

Collins admitted to throwing the substance, but claimed to have thought it was a date rape drug.

Andre Phoenix, accused of helping Collins, was found not guilty. She gave birth to a girl on November 2.

But the prosecution proved he had warned his mother in a text message 10 days earlier to "mind that little hand wash in my auto acid".

In court he claimed he was referring to his hair restorer but this was dismissed by the jury. She said she plans to bring up her daughter as a single parent.

Victim Lauren Trent told the trial she heard a "hissing" sound like a can of Coke opening as the liquid touched her neck, and her skin started "coming off in my hands".

"Yes she can", Collins replied.

Collins and Mr Phoenix were identified from the CCTV footage, in which Collins could be seen wearing a T-shirt with the word "killer" written on it. Collins was then seen squirting the contents of the bottle twice more around the club.

One victim of the attack was 21-year-old Sophie Hall, who told The Mirror: "It smelt like petrol and it hit me and was the most terrible burning and stinging sensation".

"I stood up and felt something wet on my back". The acid had run down my cheeks and burnt into my skin.

Lily Saw, reviewing lawyer for the London Crown Prosecution Service, said: "Our prosecution proved this acid attack was no accident".

The liquid used by Collins was found to have a pH rating of 1, equal to strong chemicals like battery acid.

"Acid can be as much of a weapon as a knife with equally damaging consequences, and numerous victims of this attack suffered very serious injuries".

Collins was convicted on all counts on a majority verdict of 10 to two, and he will be sentenced on 19 December.
