Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2017 final: Chris Gayle SMASHES records; full list!

He also crossed 11,000-run milestone in T20 cricket.

The Caribbean is also the only player to score a T20 global century, an ODI double century and a Test triple century.

Chris Gayle hit a record 18 sixes as he smashed an unbeaten 146 off 69 balls for Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League final. In the process, Gayle became the first batsman to hit 100 sixes in BPL.

Gayle had earlier paved the way for his franchise with an unbeaten 51-ball 126 in Friday's Eliminator against Khulna Titans, before Johnson Charles helped the Riders zoom past Comilla Victorians with a ton of his own.

He completed 11,000 runs in the shortest format of the game, and also became the first to score 20 centuries in T20s. But the best was saved for last as the Jamaican six machine hit an unbelievable 18 sixes - an eye-watering 16 of them in the last 10 overs - and only five fours. The previous record for the maximum number of sixes in a T20 match was also held by Gayle, when he had smashed 17 sixes for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors during Indian Premier League 2013. He has also scored two hundreds in T20I for West Indies.

He was in poor form for RCB in the IPL this year, managing only 200 runs from 9 matches. However, it was after his dismissal that the towering Gayle hammered the bowlers at will to the boundaries.
