Cardinals' Adrian Peterson (neck) placed on injured reserve

The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly adding another name to its injured reserve list.

Arizona Cardinals running back Adrian Peterson is done for the year due to a neck injury. Since Peterson went down, Williams has gained 170 yards rushing on 36 carries in two games.

If Peterson can't play again, he should be elected into the Canton hall in his first year of eligibility; he's in the conversation as one of the top 5 running backs in National Football League history. The 2012 NFL MVP had just 27 carries through the first four games before being traded to the Cardinals prior to Week 6. Part of the reason they acquired Peterson is that David Johnson was injured, and Johnson will be back next season.

Now that Arizona Cardinals running back Adrian Peterson's status for the rest of the 2017 season has been decided, it's time to look ahead at his future. Arians said Wednesday that there had been no improvement in the condition of Peterson, who had missed the team's past two games. He parted ways with the Minnesota Vikings in the offseason after 10 years with the club, and signed with the New Orleans Saints in late April. His two touchdowns with the Cardinals were the only ones he scored this season.

Injuries have been a recurring theme in Peterson's career.
