Derek McInnes misses training after Rangers approach

Aberdeen have knocked back Rangers' approach for manager Derek McInnes - but the Ibrox club are not ready to give up it is believed.

McInnes has been the bookmakers' favourite to take over at Rangers since Caixinha's departure but Aberdeen denied them permission to speak to the 46-year-old on Tuesday.

The Daily Mail, meanwhile, name that figure more exactly at £800,000, or over £1M including Docherty, and claim that the Dons are demanding that money is paid before Rangers can even open talks with McInnes.

Rangers have been without a manager since Pedro Caixinha was sacked in late October.

Frustrated that the matter hasn't progressed since he was first linked with the post, the Dons boss took a swipe at the Ibrox club for their handling of the matter after his side lost to Rangers for the second time in four days on Sunday.

Miller warned if McInnes wants to talk to Rangers and the Dons play hard-ball by continuing to refuse permission, McInnes could rip up his contract.

Compensation would have to be agreed between the sides if McInnes was to return to the club he served as a player between 1995 and 2000.

But while their first offer has been rejected by Reds chief Stewart Milne, it is understood Rangers will not be dissuaded and will make another attempt to lure McInnes back to Glasgow.

"He said: "[The situation] has not allowed the managers and players to get on with the job in hand, without having this cloud of speculation and having to face the same questions over and over again", said Miller.
