Dylan Farrow: The hypocrisy behind Hollywood's continued acceptance of Woody Allen

"Why is it that Harvey Weinstein and other accused celebrities have been cast out by Hollywood, while Allen recently secured a multimillion-dollar distribution deal with Amazon, greenlit by former Amazon Studios executive Roy Price before he was suspended over sexual misconduct allegations", Farrow writes. Farrow restated facts about the alleged abuse by her father that she said are public knowledge but that have been silenced by Allen's massive PR machine, which she said deploy money and power "to make the simple complicated, to massage the story". "The things making me uncomfortable were making me think I was a bad kid, because I didn't want to do what my elder told me to do".

Winslet praised the "incredibly brave" women for coming forward against Weinstein and said she was "deeply shocked" by their allegations, but said that with Allen, she was willing to separate the art from the artist in order to work with the "incredible" director.

"Allen's latest feature, Wonder Wheel, was released theatrically on December 1". (The director was never formally charged with a crime, and has consistently denied the allegations.) Since then, Dylan has been a writer and advocate for sexual assault survivors, and she has spoken out tirelessly about Allen having allegedly sexually abused her on numerous occasions, which lead to a massive rift in their family and the Hollywood community as a whole.

In a new op-ed for The Los Angeles Times, Woody Allen's adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, asks why Allen - who she alleges sexually assaulted her when she was 7 - hasn't been held accountable like other powerful men including Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey.

In her Op-Ed, Dylan calls attention to what she feels is a hypocrisy. "I knew I needed a tremendous actress to play [Ginny]".

Kate Winslet has nothing but niceties for her director Woody Allen's portrayal of women - even as his daughter, Dylan Farrow, calls out stars like Winslet for their enduring support. "Although the culture seems to be shifting rapidly, my allegation is apparently still just too complicated, too hard, too 'dangerous, ' to use Lively's term, to confront", Farrow wrote. "It breaks my heart when women and men I admire work with Allen, then refuse to answer questions about it". "Further, we believe that Dylan's statements on videotape and her statements to us during our evaluation do not refer to actual events that occurred to her on August 4th, 1992", the date Farrow alleged Allen molested her. (Weinstein has denied allegations of non-consensual sex.) But, she noted, all three women have avoided condemning Allen over her allegations.

In her piece, Farrow wonders why Allen has been able to escape the fate of other men in Hollywood who have been accused of misconduct. "I hope that Harvey Weinstein absolutely is punished within the fullest extent of the law should that be the case".
