NVIDIA announces TITAN V: 12GB HBM2, priced at $2999

But at almost $3,000 it is really aimed at developers, researchers and companies that wish to create and power AI systems that tap into the parallel processing capabilities of GPU, helping them crunch through massive amounts of data more efficiently than central processing units would.

According to the specifications available on Nvidia's product page, the GV100 GPU behind the Titan V has all 6 Graphics Processing Clusters (GPCs) or 80 Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs), for a total of 5120 CUDA cores and 320 TMUs.

The new TITAN V is based on the NVIDIA Volta architecture, and with that shift comes a big leap in compute performance with certain workloads.

Inside, the new TITAN V features 640 Tensor Cores that are turned for deep learning performance.

"With TITAN V, we are putting Volta into the hands of researchers and scientists all over the world". It doubles the energy efficiency of the previous generation Pascal design, enabling dramatic boosts in performance in the same power envelope, Nvidia claims.

"Our vision for Volta was to push the outer limits of high performance computing and AI. We broke new ground with its new processor architecture, instructions, numerical formats, memory architecture and processor links", Jen Huang, Nvidia founder and CEO, said in a statement.

Well, it's possible. I already mentioned that I did not see an SLI connectors on the card, and made a comment about NVLINK, indeed the card has NVLINK Bridge connectors, which is a fundamental change, but also price. The latest release from this lineup is Titan V GPU, which is created to bring tons of power to the people who are interested in dealing with machine learning applications. It is undoubtedly way more powerful than most GPUs that claim to be the best, but despite being a consumer-accessible GPU the Titan V sells for a whopping $2,999 (roughly Rs 1,93,500) which is way much higher than the cost of a full-fledged gaming computer.

The Nvidia store shows the new bridge at 599 USD a piece, in the store, it's the one right next to the 30 USD HB-SLI bridge.
