Overwatch Winter Wonderland Returns December 12, New Legendary Skins, New Game Mode

"I was absolutely blown away when I saw the work that they had done and we really hope that you enjoy that".

Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan has stated that new legendary skins will make it to the game for heroes such as Hanzo, Junkrat, and Road Hog.

It's that time of year: Overwatch's seasonal event for the holidays, Winter Wonderland, returns December 12 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, developer Blizzard Entertainment announced today.

Overwatch's Winter Wonderland returns next week on Tuesday.

Obviously, there will be new Legendary skins available, but the team won't reveal them all - that would ruin the surprise.

Overwatch's holiday event returns next week with new Mei-focused mode

Holiday looks for Kings Row and Hanamura will both return, and the Black Forest arena will also be getting a seasonal pass. Hanamura and King's Row will return, but Black Forest will also get a attractive holiday display. You can once again enjoy the Global Snowball Offensive mode that has a team of Meis throwing balls of fresh powder at one another, but you can now play that mode on the Black Forest map as well.

Another new Mei-centric mode will be part of the festivities. It's a six-player mode with five Meis pinned against a single Winston, who grows stronger the farther across the map he moves. Winston has to collect powerups around the map that award him primal rage and pick off the Mei's that are mercilessly hunting him down.

Speaking of Mei, Blizzard is planning a new event around the snowy scientist. Once enough Meis-or Winston-are killed, the game is over.

"I know a lot of you are thinking it sounds kind of silly and kind of ridiculous", said Kaplan of Mei's Yeti Hunt. He said the point is "just to be fun and light and refreshing for a short period of time", rather than a serious, truly competitive mode that will be used in esports.
