Peter Stöger appointed Borussia Dortmund coach as Peter Bosz is fired

Borussia Dortmund have announced that they have sacked head coach Peter Bosz after less than six months in charge, replacing him with former Cologne boss Peter Stoger.

Sober was dumped by Cologne earlier this season with the side languishing down near the foot of the table.

The Gabon striker - who finished the 2016/17 campaign as the Golden Boot victor with 31 goals, one more than Bayern Munich hitman and great rival Robert Lewandowski - moved onto 12 for the season with the strike bringing up his 97th all-time in the German top flight. "I'm responsible for what happens out on the pitch".

Leading up to the game, Bosz seemed unsettled as he was forced to answer questions regarding how a fire alarm going off at the team hotel would affect his side and whether rumours that his players had influenced his starting line-up decisions were true.

Bremen went ahead when Germany Under-21 midfielder Maximilian Eggestein rifled home unmarked from the edge of the area on 26 minutes.

But Bremen restored their lead eight minutes later through a header from Czech defender Theodor Gebre Selassie.

Dortmund captain Marcel Schmelzer slammed the performance.

"That was impudent, it was insane", fumed the defender.

"I would not say no, I always think about it first, because that's how I am, I would not say something like that in an emotion, but I probably will not do it".

Following his 13th winless game on the bounce Bosz cut an unsettled figure during his post-match press conference on Saturday, but believed he could still turn things around, however knew his fate lay in the hands of the Dortmund chiefs.
