Snow showers still possible Friday in parts of Central Georgia

Behind the passage of the cold front, temperatures have started to drop significantly.

During the day Friday, the "rain/snow line" will retrograde to the northwest as surface low pressure to the south nudges ever-so-slightly-warmer air into the area. South of I-10 may still have rain around that could become a wintry mix. This means most of the Upstate will see generally a cold rain mixed occasionally with melting snowflakes.

IMPACTS: Wet roads are a near certainty, but icy travel remains unlikely except for areas where snow actually accumulates.

Thursday: Rain likely. Highs in the upper 40s to low to mid 50s.

It is chilly and we have seen a good bit of rain across Central Georgia over the past couple of days. Temperatures are expected to remain just above freezing while the snow falls, which will prevent significant accumulations, but some light accumulations will be possible primarily on grassy and elevated surfaces. One of the potential problems Friday night will be the possibility of icy patches as temperatures fall into the mid 20s. For most of us, this will be a cold rain. Temperatures will warm up to the lower 60s in the afternoon.

A stout cold front passed through Acadiana this afternoon.

Thursday night: A cold rain possibly mixing with snow, especially north of Lake Pontchartrain.

The great weather will continue next week with more sunshine and little to no chance for rain. Highs in the mid 40s. At the same time we will still have scattered showers.

However, with clear skies temperatures will cool off again going into Sunday morning leading to another possible freeze/frost so plants and pipes will need to be protected along with pets brought inside. It will be a welcoming sight after all of the rain, and cloudiness we have had recently.
