All signs point to Matt Patricia becoming next Giants head coach

But the question remains: Does Patricia want to be the Lions' next head coach?

Players love Carolina defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, who interviewed with the Giants on Tuesday, and he could be the calming guy to fix a divided and mercenary NY team.

Patricia could take some members of the Patriots coaching staff with him, so that is something to watch for in the coming weeks.

All signs are pointing to Matt Patricia, the New England Patriots defensive coordinator with a degree in aeronautical engineering, as the man the Giants will hire to point Big Blue back in the right direction.

Patricia undoubtedly is qualified for a head-coaching position, and there is a chance he will need to decide between official job offers from the Lions and Giants once New England's season is over.

Many believed Patricia would be the Lions' new head coach because he and Detroit GM Bob Quinn, a former Patriots exec, would keep it in the family as products of New England, too.

King adds that Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks and Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur also remain very much in play. McDaniels recently interviewed with the Colts and is among the front-runners for the job.
