Battalion 1944 Hits Early Access in February, Beta Announced

As reported by our sister title Develop, Derby-based studio Bulkhead Interactive has announced a release date for WW2 multiplayer shooter Battalion 1944's Early Access release.

Battalion 1944 developer, Bulkhead Interactive, have lived up to their promise from the end of last year that we'd be seeing the game's first glimpse of gameplay in the new year.

Battalion 1944 aims to recapture the core of classic competitive shooters & refines the "classic" FPS feel for the next generation.

The Early Access version will come with six modes, to be announced later down the line.

Now, we finally get to see if all this hard work has paid of as Bulkhead Interactive and Square Enix Collective have unveiled the first gameplay trailer for Battalion 1944.

Gamers will get a chance to play the studio's first first-person shooter (for free) before Battalion 1944 hits Steam on February 1. "We've been testing the game behind closed doors with our Kickstarter backers".

If you after watching that you can't wait for Early Access, you can get hands on with an exclusive beta weekend launching Friday, January 19 - you can signup here. And a press release about the beta notes Battalion will have four additional match types when it hits Steam. The devs say you'll increase your chances by following their social media, but Kickstarter and Humble backers already have guaranteed access. Players can try Domination matches on the "Manorhouse" map or Wartide matches (the game's competitive mode) on Liberation.

But please remember, this is a beta for an early access game. "We've looked to bed the play down in maps that are both competitive and authentic, for which our trips to Normandy proved immensely useful". "It's one last chance for us to test out our wares with FPS players before we make the leap to Early Access".
