Delhi fog: 14 trains cancelled, 34 flights delayed due to dense fog

"We allowed free changes and cancels for yesterday and also today".

On the first day of 2018, Delhi airport experienced 270 flight delays, 50 diversion and 35 cancellations due to dense fog that enveloped the city.

The minimum temperature on Wednesday settled at 7.4 degrees C, normal for the season, and the relative humidity at 0830 was 92 per cent, the weatherman said.

Over 500 flights, both domestic and worldwide, flying into and out of the IGI Airport have been affected since Sunday, when the city witnessed the worst fog of the season.

Six flights were cancelled and over 60 delayed due to fog at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here this morning. Yesterday 40 domestic and 26 global flights were delayed.

According to Meteorological Department weather forecast, very dense fog observed at most places over Bihar, at many places over Punjab; at a few places over East Uttar Pradesh; at isolated places over West Uttar Pradesh, Northwest Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh and Tripura. "The runway visibility has come down to less than 50 metres", a senior aviation official said.

Airport were severely affected due to low visibility.

Misty conditions on Wednesday evening also brought traffic to a crawl in Gurgaon. Besides train services, flights have been affected as well.
